Recovering from perfectionism

This week, I’m sharing my personal story of recovering from perfectionism.

I used to be a 150%-er. I was a Type-A to the extreme. A total perfectionist. Gripping the ball so tight. There was no room for creativity, new ideas, imperfection, or stepping outside of the comfort zone. It was just working hard and appearing perfect at all times. On the inside was the constant mantra, “Don’t fail, don’t fail, don’t fail.”

So, how did I recover? Shifting my mindset from perfectionism to freedom. Instead of giving 150% of myself to perfectionism and fear of failure, I took 100% of myself back and gave 22% of my mind space to experiment, play, explore and fail! I call this buffer the 22% Fuck It mindset. If a new idea seems too scary to try? “Fuck it, 22%” If I want to play with new ideas for my business or life or take time away to have fun, “Eff it, I have 22% buffer to play and explore.” This mindset is what gives me space I need to feel free, to be me, to enjoy life, to have the courage to do new, scary, and fun things and to show up in life the way I want to show up – Free!

So, what do you think? Are you willing to try being a 22%-er too? Eff it and give it a try!
